About The Band

The founding members of Entropy,
Justin Chamberlain, Spencer Small, and Brendon Bouchard, started a band called Walls of Blue in 2004, when they were in 8th grade.  The line-up consisted of Small on vocals, Chamberlain on drums, Bouchard on bass, and former member Tyler Salsbury on guitar.

In 2006 Chamberlain switched instruments and became the band's lead guitarist.  Based upon a suggestion by Chamberlain's cousin (who turned out later to become the band's producer and manager), the band changed their name to "Entropy" in the Summer of '06 and started playing small gigs with covers of classic rock songs that everyone knows and loves.  They worked their magic at '07 Battle of the Bands in Ellsworth, Maine changing their name to 'X-Ray Cat and the Wooden Doors,' and winning the competition over bands who had already established themselves in the music world.  After that, they changed their name back to Entropy and acquired rhythm guitarist, John Keefe and Spencer Small's 15 year old brother Tyler Small as their drummer.

With their new line-up, Entropy repeated its Battle of the Bands victory in '09, becoming the only band to ever win two of the regional competitions.  Entropy then entered the 2009 Maine Reindeer Rock-Off in April 2009, competing against 18 of the top bands in the state.  They entered the competition as underdogs, being the only band with no merchandise, no album, and no publicity; all of which were factors in the scoring process of the competition.  They ended up placing sixth in the first round, meaning that they would not be one of the top five bands returning to the finals.  As luck would have it, one of the top five bands could not make it to the final performance and Entropy got the call to take their place two days before the final competition.  The band drove three hours in a snow storm the night before the finals and wrote a completely new song in their hotel room that night that they would play in the show the next day.  Against all odds and purely through the power of their live performance, Entropy managed to take first place overall in the competition, officially earning them the label as the "Best Young Band in the State of Maine."

After winning their new title, Entropy held a concert at the Grand Auditorium in Ellsworth, Maine.  Chamberlain's cousin, Jared Tucker, who had previously agreed to lend the band resources for them to record their three original songs, attended the concert to help them with a live recording.  During the show, Tucker was blown away by the band's energy and stage presence (he had not heard perform since they were Walls of Blue in 8th grade) and quickly became the band's manager and producer.

Since then, the members of Entropy, along with Tucker, have been working on their debut album, Nothing is Sacred.  The full-length album is going to have 12 tracks that have strong roots in classic rock, hard rock, and blues, and is scheduled for a Spring 2010 release.  The band's current line-up is: Spencer Small on vocals and saxophone, Chamberlain on guitars and backing vocals, Bouchard on bass and backing vocals, and Tyler Small on the drums.
